MouseHunt Birthday II: Week of March 1 Update

Hello all. As promised, this post is dedicated to the MouseHunt birthday celebration happening March 2010. We will update this post as news comes in right off the dev's computers. Check back as the event goes on to get FACTUAL information about updates. (yes, I hate the forums too...)


The Terrible Twos mouse has been released and the King has charged us hunters with the job of catching it! The Terrible Twos mouse is Parental type, meaning that any other trap of any other type will be less effective against this mouse. Luckily, a new trap, the Nanny Bot, has been released to help us catch the mouse. To assemble the Nanny Bot, you will need 3 parts:

1. Intimidating Pincher - dropped by Rockstar Mice
   
2. Nanny Bolts - dropped by Birthday Mice
3. Timeout Hour Glass - dropped by Present Mice

All these mice can be found in the Town of Gnawnia and all of these drops have been confirmed. The plan should be to arm your strongest trap and base set up. As for cheese, Mouse Analytics has provided us with some answers. Here is their post on the celebration. But here is the meat of what they have found regarding cheese (subject to change as more statistics are added):

Birthday Mouse - 2.19% Brie, 2.16% Rockforth, 4.81% SuperBrie
Present Mouse - 2.67% Brie, 3.09% Rockforth, 6.38% SuperBrie
Rockstar Mouse* - 1.09% Brie, 2.78% Rockforth, 2.59% SuperBrie

So in conclusion, it seems that Super|Brie+ should be your cheese of choice for this event. If it comes down to just needing the Rockstar, throw out some Rockforth if you have it. If you don't have a supply of SB+ or Rockforth, use brie- it will take longer, but we both got all three of our parts using brie, probably in about 24-48 hours of hunting. Regardless, the key is to be patient. The attraction rates are not high.

Finally, to assemble the trap using these three parts, click the link in Dave's news post (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CRAFT NORMALLY). Once you have the trap, head to the Meadow, where the Terrible Twos mouse is currently located, and do what we do best -- HUNT! Terrible Twos mouse is not showing a preference for a particular cheese so we recommend using brie along with a high-attraction trap setup to catch this mouse. Make sure that you have the Nannybot equipped because without it, you will fail and fail often. This is also a good time to equip your most stale base (if you are in need of stale cheese) as brie is one of the cheaper late-game cheeses. Try not to get frustrated- the mouse has a low attraction rate in general- no more than 3% from what we have seen. Here are the attraction rates of the Terrible Twos mouse with different cheeses.

Brie- 1.48%; SB+- 2.58%

So, there's no real secret here. If you stay active and just make sure you are sounding that horn, you will catch one.

EDIT 3/5 -- TERRIBLE TWOS MOUSE IS NOW DROPPING THE CHOCOLATE BIRTHDAY CAKE BASE. You should try to get this if you can. It's worth it for players of all levels.

Power Bonus- 8%
Attraction Bonus- 5%
Luck- 1
Cheese Effect- No Effect

As a free base, this is a very good one. Go ahead and try and get this once you have the Nannybot.

UPDATE- 7 March

Present, Birthday, and Rockstar mice in Town of Gnawnia have started dropping stolen birthday gifts! Hunters can open these gifts and receive one of the following:

• 30 Swiss cheese
• 15 Brie
• 5 Maki
• 2 RB Potion
• 2 Gnarled Potion
• 50 Splintered Wood
• 3 SB+
• 50 Stale Cheese
• 200 Nori
• 1 Satchel Of Gold(1000 gold)
• 1 Satchel of Gold (10000 gold)
• 1 Hunting Research (5000 points)
• 1 Explosive Base

Go if you're feeling lucky, but we suggest that more advanced hunters ignore this update. The event mice are too rare and the rewards too small to be worth it for players of higher level.
